Antinori, Castello della Sala 2022

Flag of Italy

Marchesi Antinori’s Castello della Sala is a historic Umbrian estate perched on gently rolling calcareous hillsides, once owned by the noble family the Monaldeschi della Cervara. Since 1985 the estate has pioneered modern winemaking techniques in central Italy, combining native tradition with French-style finesse. Their vineyards benefit from well-exposed, fossil-rich soils, and a terroir that balances freshness and structure beautifully. A blend of Chardonnay with a smaller portion of Grechetto, aged in French oak barriques. Pale straw-gold in the glass with greenish highlights. On the nose: white peach, lemon zest, acacia blossom and subtle flint/mineral under-note, lifting into gentle vanilla and toasted almond. The palate is rich yet refined; flavours of orchard fruits and citrus meet a creamy oak texture, with bright acidity and a salty-mineral thread that carries into a long, elegant finish. Excellent balance of power and precision; will age gracefully over the next 5–10 years.
